What We Do

Our brilliant, versatile plastic pellets

what-we-do

We’re passionate about diverting plastic from landfill and giving it a new lease of life. Recycling scrap plastic into high-grade pellets is good for the environment, it’s good for our suppliers and it makes good business sense for our clients, who can make significant savings when they use our pellets in the manufacturing process.

Our product offerings mainly include Polypropylene (PP) and High-density polyethylene (HDPE) in various grades and colors that can be used to make high-quality consumer and industrial-use end products.

We use our industry knowledge and technical expertise to ensure that our customers’ specific requirements are met, and take pride in our positive, can-do approach to all of our clients’ demands. Recently, we have strengthened our product offering to include more complex post-consumer waste streams such as Automotive Shredder Residue (ASR).

Our recycled plastic pellets can be used in a wide variety of manufacturing processes, and have been turned into a multitude of household goods, from tables and chairs to buckets, paint tubs and numerous other items.

Bringing new life to unwanted plastic waste

Tipping

We use the latest processing techniques and enforce strict quality control measures to deliver near-prime quality grades, consistently, according to our customers’ specifications. We deploy an efficient operating system that facilitates:

  • Nationwide collection of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic scrap.
  • Segregation of waste by colour and type.
  • Processing of segregated plastic waste through ethical recycling.
  • Production of high-quality, premium raw pellets.

We recycle plastic waste in large quantities after sorting it by colour, quality, and resin type. We sieve the segregated scrap, remove ferrous/ non-ferrous metal contamination, wash, dry, grind, shred, pulverize and implement extrusion utilizing our reprocessing equipment and technology.
With quality checks at every stage, our focus is always on providing clients with recycled material that is a strong, viable alternative to virgin plastic.
We’re proud of the plastic pellets we create, and would love to explain to you how they could work in your own manufacturing process – and how they could save you money. Get in touch with us for more details.

Where do we get our scrap plastic?

Garbage truck

Plastic recycling starts with the collection of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic scrap. At Octopi, we buy plastic scrap from individual households, scrap dealers and businesses? willing to channel their waste towards recycling rather than landfills.

The sale of plastic scrap – by you to Octopi – translates into an opportunity to earn money, reduce the carbon burden on the planet and free up landfill space.

We really value our plastic scrap suppliers. They work hard under difficult conditions, and we see it as part of our mission to assist them whenever we can. In the past, we have helped suppliers to buy generators to help them maintain operations during power failures, and also helped them to scale up when they are ready to grow.

We believe that this virtuous circle will help Nigeria to become more sustainable, and will reverse the trend of the ‘dump first, worry later’ mentality that has been the default setting for far too long in many countries.

Below is a list of the various types of plastic waste we look for: please get in touch with our team if you are looking for buyers.

Post-consumer waste (end of life) Polypropylene household items such as:

  • Chairs, tables, basins
  • Food containers, reusable water, bottles, buckets
  • Toys crates (all types and colours)
  • Battery cases
  • Woven bulk bags
  • Post-industrial waste rejects (colours changes, etc.)
  • Automotive waste (bumpers, etc.)

Working together towards a more sustainable future

We are committed to helping Nigeria transition to more sustainable manufacturing processes that can provide jobs and reduce plastic waste. Our goal is to help the country drive the circular economy, where everything is either reused, repaired or recycled.

We believe that Africa has the potential to become a zero waste economy, and we are both thrilled and honored to be part of that journey.

Our recycled plastic pellets are just the start – we see a future in which Octopi plays an ever-expanding role in helping Nigeria and beyond to reduce waste and carbon emissions, and putting the planet back onto a greener, more sustainable path.
